The Woods is a publication by students of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, near Terre Haute, Indiana.
SMWC was the first women’s college to offer journalism courses. The publication started in 1918 under the name Fagots, an archaic French term meaning “a bundle of sticks.” Due to the changing usage of the word, we became The Woods in 1967.
The staff of The Woods realizes its role and value as an aid in establishing and maintaining an atmosphere of free and responsible discussion and of intellectual exploration.
If you are an SMWC student who would like to contribute to The Woods, e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Staff positions are open to all students, regardless of major or area of study.
